Artist Statement:
Tea Bag Soldiers draws on traditional bookbinding techniques to transform used tea bags and timber toothpicks into a sculptural formation of quiet strength. Each tea bag is folded, notched, and woven into place, creating a ring of unwavering tension. Echoing both discipline and ritual, the circular form suggests protection, routine, and repetition, qualities often overlooked in domestic labour. This work honours the meditative process of making, where fragile, cast-off materials are marshalled into order, giving voice to the resilience found in the everyday and the quiet precision of hands at work.
