Artist Statement:
Spiralling out of Control confronts the urgent issue of plastic waste through a striking installation constructed from nearly 5000 recycled plastic bottle tops and 700 metres of reclaimed fishing line.
Inspired by negative local waste practices and global environmental crisis, this work mimics the beauty of filtered ocean light while exposing the darker reality beneath.
What began as discarded plastic now spirals into a conversation about value, impact and accountability. It invites viewers to consider not only the burden we’ve created but how we might transform it.
