Door to Door Service
One of the benefits of staying in the heart of town is that visitors have a door to door service from the airport bus.
My travel buddy Michelle was off home The touring and creative prep has been fun but it now seriously time for me to concentrate on a schedule for artwork and task some items off my list.
Artwork progress
- The bottle top lilly pads are now all in one place. I finished most of these before I left home. Assembly took place in Hobart after visiting the gallery space and working out the layout.
- While it looks complete the majority are still held together with contact book covering from Sth Hobart Reuse centre. Every bottle top is joined with fishing line, needle, pliers and a lot of hand strength to pass through each top six times
Studio Set up
Longest day in the studio so far. Have set up a little table of ring pull brooches, bits and pieces ready for tomorrows Salamanca Market.
The other table is laid out with sticky backed vinyl and sail fabric tiles. Ready to be made into tiny artworks by visitors to the studio. In the corner are the large boxes direct from WOW in NZ. Will have to unpack those another day – 12 hours is enough for today. Still have sewing at home to finish.
Location Location Location
My studio is on the top floor of the Salamanca Arts Centre – in the absolute middle of everything. The video shows what I find as soon as I leave the building.
Not that leaving the building is easy – tonight there is an exhibition opening in the gallery leading to my studio door. How could I not don a signature hat and meet my fellow artists in the building – thank you Salamanca Arts Centre for this amazing opportunity.
Every night there is something happening, music, a gallery opening, happy hour. etc.
Friday night and the arts centre courtyard is going off – have to add that to my list for next week.
